  • 6 lemons
  • 8 tablespoons of sugar
  • an abundant amount of fresh mint well-washed
  • ice or 1 liter of very cold water


  • Squeeze the lemons and put the juice through the colander, then add the sugar to the juice and mix well until it melts.
  • At this point there are two ways: if you have a powerful blender, blend the lemon juice with the mint and ice, trying to get a liquid of a granita [slush] consistency; if instead you believe that your kitchen blender will not be able to chop the ice, just crush the mint with the lemon juice and strain the liquid thus obtained once more in the strainer, then dilute it with very cold water.
  • Serve the lemonana ice-cold, garnishing the glass with a slice of lemon and some mint leaves.
