Biscotti di pasta frolla integrale al cacao

(English speaker? See the English version!)

In the last weeks my fellow blogger friends and I have been planning a party, a baby shower party to be precise. Some of you will remember the baby shower we threw for Emiko: well, today, it’s Zita’s turn to be the star of the party. Zita is the author of Zizi Adventures, one of the blogs I enjoy reading the most.
Zita, however, beat us to the punch : she gave birth to her baby boy before we were ready to whip up our recipes, which were due today.

Biscotti di frolla integrale al cacao

These cookies are my contribution to our belated, but still very lovingly organized, party: congratulations dear Zita, on this very special day!

The cookies I baked for Zita are made in a way I hope she would approve of: she leads a very healthy, veggie life, so I made a batch of cookies with wholesome ingredients, like whole wheat flour, brown sugar and theleast butter the recipe could hold.
I hope that Zita and her baby boy will like my sweets!

This is a very basic recipe for whole wheat, cocoa cookie dough: you can use it for cookies as well as for tarts and tartelettes.

Porzioni 30 cookies

Ingredienti

  • 250 g whole flour
  • 150 g di brown sugar
  • 30 g di unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 150 g butter at room temperature
  • 3 egg yolks
  • a couple of tsps milk if necessary

Istruzioni

  • In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa and sugar then, using a fork, make a well in the center and add all the other ingredients (+ milk if needed), blending everything with your hands to form a thick dough.
  • Gather the dough into a ball, wrap the ball in cling film and refrigerate until firm, at least 30 mins; in the meantime, preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface or between two sheets of wax paper and cut out the cookies with the cookie cutters of your choice.
  • Nicely arrange the cookies on a baking pan lined with wax paper then transfer the pan inside the oven.
  • Bake the cookies for 10/15 mins, until they're easily removed from the wax paper surface.
  • Eat the cookies straight away or store them in a tin box.

  3. So sweet! :) They remind me of ‘tiny teddy’ cookies I used to love eating when I was a little girl! Only they were probably much less wholesome than your lovely version!

  4. I’m feeling a bit nostalgic reading this post again. Adam just turned 2 at the end of April… how time flies! Thanks again for this wonderful post and recipe! :)
